Dear Bob Elphinston (FIBA President):
Your letter dated June 15, 2010 address to FIBA-Asia President and secretary General was very disturbing (attached below). Please don’t lecture us about Olympic values, transparency and democracy!
Look who is talking? You are the least qualified person to pontificate us on these matters.
Don’t take us for fools, making us believe that your approach is borne out of your sincerity. We know the truth: You are taking this approach for your own marketing interests and a slice of the revenue pie.
You should not dip your hands into a purely internal affair involving FIBA Asia. Your racist attitude towards Asians also is unacceptable and despicable.
You have offered unsolicited advice regarding the FIBA Asia elections on June 20, 2010, asking members not to vote under pressure. Yet, many know you have cast your lot with one of the candidates.
With this uncalled-for gesture, you have infuriated us Asians.
Your reputation is far from admirable as well.
You discredited the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) by conniving with the equally dishonest SBP that had committed bad faith since the start of the merger with the BAP initiated and guaranteed by Baumann known as the “Bangkok Agreement” signed on February 4, 2007 when the BAP was forced to compromise with SBP because of Baumann before lifting the suspension as a source of blackmail and conspiracy. You yourself admitted that you reported in behalf of the FIBA Secretariat to recognize and support the SBP (a newly formed sport association without track record that was recognized by the FIBA secretariat in the Philippines) during the FIBA Asia Executive Committee meeting held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on November 19, 2009.
I was detained for the last seven months at Camp Bagong Diwa with illegal imprisonment committed by the powerful and corrupt businessman. To do so, you had to spread wild lies about the BAP, which has been a FIBA member since 1936. Upon my release, surely I will file a criminal libel case against you for spreading lies during the FIBA-Asia Executive Committee last November 2009.
Clearly, it was an illegal intervention in our national federation affairs. And your action was reinforced by the various comments sent by the FIBA Asia Executive Committee to the FIBA Central Board last December 2009 as a person full of negativity interfering in the affairs of FIBA Asia members like the case in the Philippines.
You speak of transparency. If so, why don’t you let us know about your dealings with FIBA Oceania through the years! Did you make money from your various marketing schemes representing as a consultant? Your silence on this matter is also deafening.
Hypocrisy is a harsh word but it fittingly describes your personality. This characteristic has been attached to you since entering you entered the international sports scene, notably in basketball.
You also lectured us Asians to be democratic when dealing with a FIBA activity. Coming as it is from a tyrant like you, the message is too hollow. You, along with your cohorts Patrick Baumann and Borislav Stankovic, have been running the FIBA like it was a family corporation, marked distinctly by allegations of manipulation, conspiracy and dishonesty.
I am letting you out a secret. Since I will not be on hand to see you personally in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 19, 2010 (FIBA-Asia Ex-Com) and the June 20, 2010 (FIBA-Asia Elections today) to stop you from intervening on what is a purely international affair of FIBA-Asia. In FIBA’s Europe and Americas, you don’t dare to lift a finger on them. That is why your racist attitude toward Asia is predictable.
In the soonest time, I shall also tackle issues involving FIBA Oceania and your involvement in their organizational affairs. Expect others to be enlightened on this matter as well.
To tell you the truth, I don’t have an ounce of respect for you. Respect has to be earned. And it’s never given freely, and certainly not to somebody like you.
God bless you and may you repent for your sins.
Sincerely yours,
Graham C. Lim
