ABS-CBN News
Dear Sir/Ma'am,
It was a shocking news, only because there is absolutely no truth to the slanderous accusation by the Honorable and His Highness Jose (Peping) Cojuangco on the undersigned, coming as it from an aging politician who continues to evade issues regarding the ills of Philippine sports. His Honorable Cojuangco could not answer directly Senator Antonio Trillanes’ concise declaration that he has done little to uplift Philippine sports and instead had to resort to question Senator Trillanes' personal credibility maligning me.
This is utterly a disgusting behavior from someone who thinks he has the sole monopoly of promoting Philippine sports. And I thought dictatorship, which his clan fought hard against during the martial law years, is a social problem that has gone past us. Sadly, it is back and he himself is espousing it in Philippine sports.
If Mr. Cojuangco was brave enough, he would have simply attended the hearing by the Senate Committee on Sports chaired by Senator Angara and faced the music fairly and squarely.
Instead, Mr. Cojuangco chose to hide under his nephew's pants and cowardly skirted the issue by unleashing his venomous personal attacks on the undersigned who was not there to defend himself and had nothing to do with what Senator Trillanes' opinion on the decadent Philippine sports.
Imagine, the real issue revolves what ails Philippine sports and he comes back to attack Senator Trillanes through the undersigned? And ABS-CBN wittingly (or unwittingly) chose to post his reply through a text message on live television?
The real issue here is why is Philippines sports in the doldrums and he chose to slander me through his text to ABS-CBN during its TV Patrol telecast on February 7, 2014.
Decency demands that I be given my side if ABS-CBN truly adheres to fair reporting. Not unless the TV station is also afraid of a vindictive presidential uncle, and, for his stature, an undignified one at the least. If ABS-CBN could find tons of time to air Vhong Navarro's grievances not only because he is your talent but also because justice has to be served to those people whose human rights have been trampled, then I, too, should be given some airtime to respond to the aging Cojuangco's corrupt views.
I am no Mr. Navarro but I also do deserve justice and, at the least, allowed to counter what your TV station did by posting his text message on your mid-evening telecast.
Fair reporting in media dictates that both sides of an issue should be aired.
Thank you very much.
Signed:
